| Elton John and band performed in Turku on November 30, 2005 Thursday, December 1 2005
 | Fan report by Jouni Nippala. Elton John continued his "last European tour" (see the comment he made during the Helsinki show the night before) with the band and Voice of Atlanta Choir in Elysè Arena, Turku Finland on November 30, 2005.
Elton was in an even better mood than in Helsinki. He introduced his band by saying that they have a solo album out with the name 'Soft Turkey' which can be downloaded over the Internet! Davey Johnstone again got to hear about his folk music background which gave all big laughs. Elton was wearing a beautiful black suit with a mermaid embroided in the back.

The show again was very good with almost the same setlist as in Helsinki. "I´m Still Standing" was dropped off possibly because of some hassle with Davey's guitars. Elton was standing on his piano and waiting for some time for Davey to begin. Finally they started with "The Bitch Is Back" and gave us, the most eager fans, including a group of enthusiastic EJFC-members from St Petersburg (hi there Anna and the rest!), a long-awaited chance to get up dancing by the stagefront.

Again the audience was typical Finnish: strong and polite applauses from middle-agers taking care of their children and businesses with their cell-phones during songs! Good feeling but no overjoyous fiesta!

But I guess that`s to be expected considering that most people, including me, had to make their way to the Arena driving many hours in this winters worst snow storm! The Germans would probably have been stuck in their motorways :)

The one encore was Elton solo singing beautifully "Candle In The Wind" and "Circle Of Life" in his traditional black jogging suit. Yes, this evening he had time to change costume! Again a very strong show, probably the best of the eight ones I`ve had a chance to see since 1982!
